25 November 1997: Link to three news reports on Jim Bell's sentencing
24 November 1997
JYA Note: Two recent Jim Bell court dockets obtained from the PACER (Public Access to Electronic Court Records) service had notes of "updates" on November 18 and November 21 but did not have corresponding docket entries. Today, I arranged for ABC-Legal Messengers (1-800-736-7250) in Tacoma to inquire about the missing entries and received a prompt answer this evening. My memo about it:
I got a response from Doug Christiansen in Tacoma on the missing
docket entries which was a fax of a fax to him of "NOV-24-97 MON 14:57."
There was a handwritten note at the bottom of a single page docket
printout:
Doug -- Looks like they took their docket info off SCOMIS.
That's not "time sensitive." The info is provided by
SCOMIS and they have a time delay in updating their
private system. Our docketing w/the Court would show
current info. E
I assume "they" refers to the PACER dockets I sent to Doug for inquiry.

21 November 1997
Jim Bell was scheduled to be sentenced today at 9:30 AM. I called the court's ever-helpful administrative office (1-253-593-6754) for a report and was told that sentencing had been postponed until December 12, 10:30AM.
Other info:
Mail sent to Jim since his request for books has been returned twice that I know about.
Books sent to Kitsap County jail, where he was first incarcerated, was returned marked "not in jail."
After this an inquiry to the court was made about Jim's location and it was learned that he had been transferred to Federal Detention Center at SeaTac, WA. A letter sent there recently was returned unopened, marked "Return to Writer."
The court docket today at 8:53PM (see final entry below) does not list his relocation nor the new sentencing date. However, entries usually appear a day or so after an action.
