A writes 7 May 2005:
The graphic "Camp David Presidential Retreat" shows a detailed view of the compound. The president's lodge is at the lower right. It is on the east side of the mountain, about 60 ft from the top. It should be visible with a telescope from the Monacacy River valley. That is, it should be visible from US highway 15 between about St. Anthony on the north and Creagersville Station on the south, as well as points east of route 15 in the valley. |

A writes: Camp David is just west of Thurmont, MD, on Maryland route
77, between Thurmont and Foxville, MD, just south of the Pennsylvania state
line. It is inside the Catoctin Mountain National Park. (Refer
to the park trails map [1].) After entering the park near the vistor
center, one travels north and then west on Park Central Road. Camp
David is missing from the National Park Service maps, but on this one, the
"1880ft/573m" gives it away. This denotes the elevation of the mountain's
peak, called "Hightop," which is within Camp David.
